Meet Dr. Teplick – LASIK Surgeon and Ophthalmologist

Dr. Stanley Teplick is a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 22 years of experience as an eye physician and surgeon. He completed his training at the Mayo Clinic, where he was named chief resident in 1981. Dr. Teplick has performed over 35,000 microsurgical eye operations, including over 25,000 laser vision surgeries designed to eliminate the need for glasses and contact lenses. Dr. Teplick performed one of the first FDA-approved excimer laser vision corrections in the Pacific Northwest.

Dr. Teplick is an adjunct professor at Pacific University College of Optometry, and Teplick Custom Vision serves as a regional referral and teaching facility. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Teplick has served as a spokesperson for the Better Vision Institute, a national advisory body to the Vision Council of America. For almost a decade, he was the ophthalmology program director for the Vision Expo, the largest eye care meeting in the country. Dr. Teplick has lectured internationally on eye surgery, and has been a regular columnist on refractive surgery in the journal Primary Care Optometry News. He participated in the original FDA studies that led to the approval of the excimer laser in 1995. Since then, his reputation a preeminent LASIK surgeon in Oregon has spread throughout the nation.

Tara Pinske, O. D.

Optometrist

Dr. Tara Pinske carried out her undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin and obtained her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University here in Oregon. She has worked exclusively in the refractive surgery field and has extensive experience with LASIK, Epi-Lasik, and CK, as well as the pre- and post-operative care of cataract patients. She is also skilled in the prevention and treatment of dry eye syndrome (ocular surface disease) in peri-operative patients and has lectured on this topic as well as participated in dry eye research. She is now an associate professor at Pacific University, a member of the American Optometric Association, Portland Metro Optometric Society, and acts as key person coordinator for the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association.

When not in the office, Dr. Pinske enjoys the Oregon outdoors, photography, and travel.

Julie Rau, C.O.T.

Operating Room Coordinator

Julie is responsible for coordinating the operating room. As a certified ophthalmic technician, she has worked at LASIK surgeon Dr. Teplick’s Oregon practice since 1985, and has assisted him in refractive surgery since 1996. Julie continually updates her knowledge of refractive surgery procedures and the latest technology by attending JCAHPO and ASCRS symposia.

Julie is a certified scuba diver. She enjoys hiking and loves hanging out with her dog and cat.

M'Liss Spangler, B.S.

Business Administrator

As the business administrator, M'Liss handles the practice's finances. Her in-depth knowledge of finances and insurance billing facilitate the patient billing process. She is always available to answer billing and financing questions.

M'Liss loves spending time outdoors with her pets and a good book. She is skilled at crafts and enjoys being creative.
