Co-management of Laser Eye Surgery

Many patients have a long-standing, positive relationship with their family optometrist. Additionally, it may be inconvenient for some to travel to our laser eye surgery centers in the Portland, Oregon area for all of their care. In these cases, patients may choose to 'co-manage' and have their own eye doctor perform some of the pre-operative and post-operative care. Because optometrists do not perform laser eye surgery, but are experts in dealing with the optical system, they can be an objective and unbiased source of pre-operative information as well as a trusted resource for care after laser eye surgery. Throughout Oregon, the optometrists that we work with have had the opportunity to see surgery from a variety of laser vision centers and generally guide the patient to surgeons of the highest quality.

Because optometrists do not perform laser eye surgery, but are experts in dealing with the optical system, they can be an objective and unbiased source of pre-operative information.

We are happy to co-manage your pre-operative and post-operative care with your family eye doctor if you choose, provided that the doctor is qualified and trained to understand and manage the course of modern laser eye surgery. We have trained over 300 optometric physicians in the Pacific Northwest in this regard.

To find out more about the possibility of co-management for your laser eye surgery at one of our Portland, Oregon area offices, residents of Beaverton, Salem, Bend, Albany, Vancouver, and surrounding communities are invited to contact doctor Stanley Teplick today.
